Rather than fixing the iOS 16 device-testing regression, Apple appears to have sidestepped it by dropping iOS 16 device and simulator support in Xcode 27 beta. :(

I tested Xcode 26.5 beta 1 (build 17F5012f), released on 2026-03-30, and the issue remains unchanged: app-hosted unit tests still fail on the same physical iOS 16 device with "Logic Testing Unavailable".

Looks like the issue has been fixed for now. I was able to download the simulator runtime using the following command: xcodebuild -downloadPlatform iOS -exportPath ~/Downloads and installed it with: xcodebuild -importPlatform ~/Downloads/iphonesimulator_26.1_23B80.dmg

I guess Apple broke the distribution server — there doesn’t seem to be anything we can do on our side as software engineers outside Apple. Let’s take a break and come up with an excuse for the managers, lol
