Comment on AlarmKit: supported approach for a server-triggered wake-up alarm after an air-raid all-clear
@7_strikes Thanks. I tested this on Xcode 27 / iOS 27 Simulator with an embedded NSE and provisional notification permission. simctl push delivered the alert, but the NSE did not modify it and produced no logs. Apple's Xcode 14 notes distinguish real APNs notifications from simulated pushes for NSE support. Did you mean an actual APNs sandbox push to the simulator? Is there a way to invoke the NSE with simctl?

Thanks for the suggestion. Our AlarmKit sample compiles with app-extension restrictions enabled. Have you tested on a physical iPhone whether an NSE can schedule alarms while the app is suspended, access/cancel the app's alarms, and use its AlarmKit authorization? We use a free Personal Team and want to confirm feasibility before paying for APNs access. Could you share a working example or test our sample?

Thank you - this gives us a concrete approach to investigate. Have you successfully used AlarmKit from a Notification Service Extension on a physical device, or is this a proposed experiment? Specifically, can an NSE schedule alarms and access or cancel alarms created by its containing app using supported public APIs? We are using a free Personal Team and would like to clarify this before enrolling solely to test APNs
