Reply to VoiceOver cursor does not follow keyboard focus when Shift+Tab moves to a focusable parent
Thanks for confirming that there is no supported web API for moving the VoiceOver cursor. I agree that forcing another focus change from page script would be unreliable and could introduce additional accessibility issues. Below is a minimal HTML reproduction containing only the focusable parent and child elements. Testing this example confirms that, after Shift+Tab, keyboard focus moves to the parent but the VoiceOver cursor remains on the child. The issue reproduces with Quick Nav both disabled and enabled. I’ll also add the reproduction to FB25212861, along with a screen recording. <!doctype html> <html lang="en"> <head> <meta charset="utf-8" /> <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1" /> <title>VoiceOver reverse focus reproduction</title> <style> body { max-width: 48rem; margin: 2rem auto; padding: 0 1rem; font: 1rem/1.5 system-ui, sans-serif; } article { margin: 2rem 0; padding: 1rem; border: 2px solid #777; } :focus-visible { outline: 4px solid #075ad7; outline-offset: 4px; } </style> </head> <body> <main> <h1>VoiceOver reverse focus reproduction</h1> <button type="button">Element before the example</button> <article id="focusable-parent" tabindex="0" aria-labelledby="parent-heading"> <h2 id="parent-heading">Focusable parent</h2> <p>This article has <code>tabindex="0"</code> and contains a focusable link.</p> <a id="child-link" href="#after-example">Skip to after the example</a> </article> <button id="after-example" type="button">Element after the example</button> </main> </body> </html>
