Discontinuing legacy auto-renewable subscriptions in a subscription group – impact on existing subscribers
We have an app with one subscription group that contains 70 auto-renewable subscriptions. Many of them are legacy plans that we no longer offer, but some may still have active subscribers. We'd like to clean up the group and want to understand the consequences before we act. Could you please clarify the following: Remove from Sale: If we remove a subscription from sale in all countries/regions, will existing subscribers stop auto-renewing at the end of their current period, or will they keep renewing? Is there any way to stop new sign-ups while letting existing subscribers keep renewing? Deletion: Can we delete a subscription that was approved and has (or had) active subscribers? If so, what happens to those subscribers, and how is that different from Remove from Sale? Longer durations: For annual (and other longer than one month) subscriptions, what is the required process if we discontinue a plan while subscribers still have months of paid access left? Migration: Can we move existing subscribers from a legacy plan to another subscription in the same group ourselves, or must each subscriber upgrade/crossgrade on their own? Are there recommended tools for this, such as promotional offers? Billing retry and grace period: What happens to subscribers who are in billing retry or grace period when their plan is removed from sale or deleted? Data and APIs: After a plan is removed or deleted, will its product ID still show up in App Store Server API responses, App Store Server Notifications, receipts, restore purchases and reports? Can the product ID ever be reused? Subscriber counts: What is the most reliable way in App Store Connect to see the number of active subscribers per product ID, so we can identify plans with no active subscribers?
