“SF Symbols” is damaged and can’t be opened.

I recently updated to a new Mac using Migration Assistant. Xcode said it was damaged and wouldn't launch but it reinstalled fine. SF Symbols has the same problem, but reinstalling results in the same damaged message. I've deleted SF Symbol related stuff from Library > Application Support and Library > Preferences but no luck.

Anyone have a suggestion on how to get it to work again?

Since this started after Migration Assistant, I’d first make sure the copy you’re opening is a fresh download and not an app bundle restored from the old Mac. Remove SF Symbols from Applications, then download the current version directly from Apple Developer Downloads and install that copy. Check that version against your macOS release too. If a fresh download still shows the same alert, include the macOS version, SF Symbols version, and exact wording of the alert in a Developer Support report. I’d avoid disabling Gatekeeper or removing quarantine attributes as a workaround.

Thanks for the post, may I ask you to try something for me?

Open the Terminal app
Assuming SF Symbols is installed in your main Applications folder, copy and paste the following command:

sudo xattr -cr /Applications/SF\ Symbols.app

Try launching SF Symbols again.

What this command does:
xattr is the tool used to view and modify extended attributes on files.
-c clears all attributes.
-r applies it recursively to the entire app bundle.

This completely strips away the com.apple.quarantine flag that is triggering the "damaged" warning?

Please let me know if that cleaned all the attributes that cause being corrupted. Thanks
